Stamping of Builder Buyer Agreement


The Builder Buyer agreements are generally used in Delhi for the sale and purchase of Commercial office units and flats in Multistoried Buildings. Due to ignorance, many people neither pay any stamp duty on these agreements nor do they get it registered. Such unstamped Builder buyer agreements do not carry much value in the eyes of law and are not recognised by authorities such as Delhi Development Authority (DDA), L&DO, MCD for leasehold to freehold conversion. However, a person can legalise such an agreement by paying the applicable stamp duty and penalty. This process is known as stamping / franking of agreement.
